Jan 8, 2024: As reported on X by Susie Sante: "My friend spotted a black bear about a few miles up Soquel San Jose Rd. First sighting of its kind according to Fish and Wildlife Service! He was driving and wasn't able to get a photo, but this person is very familiar with bears and said it was unmistakably a bear."2
July 2017: "I came across one 2 weeks ago hiking behind waterman gap." Gregory Beach 1
Circa 2011: "My sighting was around 6:30 AM about 6 years ago in early June. At first I saw a cub crossing a bridge on Moloskey Creek at the south end of Boulder Creek. I observed it for about 3-4 minutes and the Mother Bear appeared, They both headed upstream." Dana Barth Jr.1
